What’s inside

  • The conversation: one question a week, ten minutes each, written before it is spoken. Twelve different questions across the twelve weeks, from the fight you keep having to the apology neither of you has made.
  • The conflict log: up to four flashpoints a week, what started it, what was said, what it was actually about, how it ended, and who repaired it. Then the worst moment of the week, unpacked by both of you, including what you actually wanted, which is rarely what you said.
  • The agreement: one sentence you both sign and try for seven days, then check. Not a resolution. An experiment.
  • The rest of the book: a pause protocol agreed on a calm evening rather than invented at eleven at night, twelve scripted openers, and six structured inventories covering money, the invisible list, time, the people outside the house, screens and evenings, and affection.
  • The reviews: three of them, at weeks four, eight and twelve, read against your own handwriting rather than your memory. One number at the end, how many arguments this quarter were repaired rather than abandoned, and one page you could hand to a professional if you decide to.

Who this is for

Most marriage books explain why couples fight and stop there. This one explains almost nothing. It is twelve weeks of structure, filled in by two people: one written conversation a week, a log of every flashpoint while it is still fresh, and one signed agreement at a time, small enough to be believable, tried for seven days, then checked.

Most long-running arguments are conducted with two different sets of facts, so the inventories put facts first and feelings second, and the reviews are read against your own handwriting rather than your memory. Large format, matte cover, room for two people’s handwriting.
